Mapping Yoga Sutra to Tamil Vocabulary

Objective

The objective of this side project is a bijective map from Sanskrit to Tamil of the word in Patanjali’s yoga sutra. A naive application of the map to the full text will confirm coverage. Preferences include minimizing loan words, preserving word order and matching case (vibhakti/vettrumai) when applying the map.

Non-goals include:

- completion by a fixed date
- commentary or interpretation
- perfect lexical matching for semantics and connotation
- preserving number, gender, tense-moods, or syllabic length 
- alignment with modern or classical usage, style, or prosody
- usable, idiomatic, pedagogical, or comprehensible translation
- alignment to established translations of terms or literary precedents
