The 4th shloka from the opening section of the Krshi Prashara, a text on the science of agriculture, is an excellent match for the kural. In particular, कृषकान् corresponds to உழுதுண்டு வாழ்வார் and प्रार्थयन्त्येव भक्ततृष्णया corresponds to தொழுதுண்டு பின்செல் பவர்.

The kural’s emphatic assertion, they only live who live by tilling the land and eating, is poetic flourish; that specific expression is missing from the shloka. Likewise, while the kural just says everyone else, the shloka poetically expresses others as even those filled with gold, gemstones, and fine clothing. These differences are superficial, and the crux of the shloka matches the kural perfectly.
